Overview

Enablement was hit hard last year during tech layoffs and for many who were impacted, landing the next opportunity seemed further and further out of reach with news of more layoffs happening every week. For those of us who were in the market last year and have been struggling to find a role, now is the time to strike! With the new fiscal year starting for companies budgets are more free to hire and companies are looking to fill positions. What can you do to stand out?

Leverage LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a go-to stop for recruiters, and hiring managers, and will be the top-of-mind reference for others in the interview process. You should have a clean professional photo, have a background photo, and make your About Me and headline stand out with your unique value add. For more tips check out this LinkedIn article]!

When it comes to finding a new role, networking is always helpful in giving you a leg up and LinkedIn can help you gain those connections to get you in front of a hiring manager or recruiter. If you are looking to make more connections, look to join some of the Sales or Enablement groups on LinkedIn. This will allow you to send connection requests to those who are 3rd in your network and can help connect you with someone who is hiring.

Polish up that resumé

Let’s face it, writing resumés is not a fun weekend activity but they need to get done and showcase what YOU can provide the company. When writing your resumé, focus on your results in those previous roles. Try using one of the following formats: Action Verb + Quantified Result + Linking Phrase + Your Action or Action Verb + Accomplishment + Outcome. Let’s enhance this line: “Built onboarding programs.” Instead let’s focus on the results: “Built onboarding program that reduced ramp time from 3 months to 3 weeks”. That is a much more impressive resume line item.

3-weeks too late

LinkedIn and other job listing sites will inform you when positions are posted. Focus on jobs that were recently posted 1 week or less rather than those that are older. Many of the older postings have candidates already in the process and you may be too far behind to get in front of the people making the final decision.

Also, be aware that recruitment systems auto-post roles. If you see a role pop up multiple times, especially if it does not show up on the company website, it is most likely an error. There are many of those so double-check before putting in the effort of customizing your resume.

Conclusion

Wherever you are in your job search journey remember that you have a wonderful community of Enablement professionals here that can help you along the way! Reach out to us at the Enablement Squad and check out our weekly Job Board, which is posted with new roles every Wednesday.
