Super Hackathon: London Recap

What’s a Super Hackathon?

Picture a room buzzing with energy, filled with passionate professionals eager to collaborate and innovate. The Revenue Enablement Society and The Enablement Squad hosted an electrifying "Super Hackathon" event designed for in-person mind-melding and idea sharing. The goal is to bring together the brightest minds in the enablement community to foster collaboration and spark creativity.

For our London Hackathon, Lawrence Wayne O’Connor explored the changing dynamics of sales performance, the modern challenges sellers face, and the actionable steps that can make training truly impactful. Here’s a recap of the key takeaways:

Setting the Scene

Kicking off the event, Lawrence began with a provocative opening keynote that set the tone for the day. He posed a question that resonated with every participant: Why doesn’t sales training transfer?

This was a call to rethink and re-engineer our approach to training in a world where remote work, rapid change, and a surge of information have altered the landscape of learning. Lawrence reminded us of the days when training reliably boosted skills, confidence, and team unity. But as times changed, so did the effectiveness of traditional methods.

The 3 Steps to Effective Sales Performance

Lawrence laid out a powerful framework for navigating these challenges, framing our focus around the 3 Steps to Effective Sales Performance:

  1. Performance Outcomes – Zeroing in on what true success looks like for sales enablement in today’s world.

  2. Performance Obstacles – Identifying the persistent barriers that prevent sellers from thriving.

  3. Sales Outputs – Pinpointing the tangible outcomes that enablement should drive to deliver real impact.

These steps became the core of our hackathon discussions, guiding every group as they dove deep into Lawrence’s insights to find practical applications for their own teams.

Collaborative Problem-Solving

Fueled by coffee and curiosity, we split into groups to dive into the essential questions posed by Lawrence’s framework.

Our goal is to unlock new strategies that help sellers not only retain training but thrive in its application. Every conversation was a deep dive, every brainstorm a burst of new perspectives. We broke down our work into three core questions:

  1. What outcomes are we truly aiming to achieve with our enablement efforts?

  2. What are the most persistent obstacles facing sellers today?

  3. Which outputs should we focus on to drive consistent performance?

Takeaways for the squad

As the day wrapped up, each group presented their insights and strategies, and the energy in the room was still electric. While we each left with our own set of learnings and action items, the shared experience created a ripple effect, inspiring everyone to approach their work with renewed purpose and adaptability. From this Hackathon, we’re bringing back not just ideas but real strategies for immediate impact.

If you couldn’t join us in London, stay tuned – these Hackathons are about connecting and empowering the enablement community wherever you are. Until next time, keep those ideas flowing, and remember: the best enablement happens when we innovate together.
